ABSTRACT:
Dalstons Dancing Forest provides recording studio facilities and an outdoor auditorium encased in nature for the nearby 'Café OTO' experimental jazz club, a staple of the community and a grassroots business which is tied closely to the history of Dalstons diverse community.
The design explored personal interpretations of sound: the metaphysical space between sound created, sound projected and sound perceived.
The environmental approach encourages nature to reclaim the adjacent brownfield site and create new pathways through Dalston using both passive and active formulations with an aim to provide an oasis of natural form for a community of people who have been deprived the right to access greenery.
